Come learn about the emergency responses to oil spill pollution incidents including assessment, monitoring, and cleanup. And how oil spills impact the Gulf of Mexico.

FL Teen SciCafes are free, informal events for teens focusing on marine science. Each meeting welcomes a local scientist to share their work with students.

A collaboration between the Marine Discovery Center of St. Petersburg, Florida Aquarium, and Mote Marine Laboratory, FL Teen SciCafe is held monthly during the school year in three counties (Pinellas, Hillsborough and Sarasota). Topics and presentations are by marine scientists selected by teen leaders who plan, coordinate, market and conduct the cafe.

FL Teen SciCafe is among eight organizations in the United States participating in the project, "Creating a Community of Practice Around a Proven Teen Science Cafe Model," developed by Education Solutions of Los Alamos, NM. The project builds on a new successful model implementing teen cafes that engage high school teens in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education. The project is funded by The National Science Foundation.
